Shades of Green in the studio for “Fields of Athenry”

Aug 26, 2024

We’ve been back in the studio in August, working on two songs for the next album.

Like our first album, Conversations We Never Had, the still-unnamed second album will feature all-original songs inspired by the poetry of Pat O’Shea Sr. and Jr., such as the recently released Life of a Working Man.

The new album will also feature some completely new songs in our unique Irish/Americana style as well as new takes on some old classics.

You’ve already heard one Irish classic we that we are giving the Shades of Green treatment, the rebel ballad Come Out, Ye Black and Tans. On this next album we’re adding a second great modern classic, The Fields of Athenry.

For Athenry, we are happy to be joined by Coleen Colon, who provided the missing piece in our vocal harmonies, as you can hear in the teaser below…

More on Athenry will be coming soon.

Another song that is in the works is 7 Long Years, and Coleen helped us out on that one, too, providing background vocals (and handclaps, too, let’s not forget the handclaps!)
